It's actually happening! There is going to be a book launch of my actual book, I really have to keep pinching myself. I made this book with my mentory Simone Lia ages ago, I started writing a self-help book to see if I could help myself and be an inspiration to others maybe and then it ended up being more of a memoir. I told the story and my mentor made all of the pictures. Here is the invitation to my book launch, please do come!
I haven't been doing any work experience lately since I handed my notice in at the Estate Agents. My mentor had bits of work that she needed help with and asked if I'd help her. At first I said no because I was a bit over doing work experience but then she talked me into it and said she'd help get some of my ideas off the ground. So I've been coming into her studio and kind of working for her and ghost writing or more like ghost idea-ing. It's fun and it turns out that I'm really good at it, we're working on something that is not quite ready yet. And in return she's helping me get my artistic dreams into action. This is all really fantastic. Idea number one was to have a billboard in my local area that isn't to sell anything but is to connect with people who live here. Art for the sake of art. This is coming very soon and I'll update here about that. Simone Lia is helping to make that happen and I'm using my bit of my book advance to pay for it. I thought I may as well blow the money on making art as I'm living in a corner of my dad's flat and I don't have to pay rent and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get a proper job and move out so what's the point anyway.
Idea number two was my mentors idea and she said we can rent a pop up shop and have a joint exhibition. This is actually beyond my wildest dreams. I've been making paintings for the show. And please do come and visit, it'll only be open for the weekend. It's all very exciting.
