I seem to have become a digital nomad. If you are not familiar with the concept, it’s basically going to a café and spending the whole day there working on a laptop. You get to work in a warm, work space with music (I’d prefer silence but you can’t win ’em all). Sometimes you get a bonus colleague, this happens when you sit next to someone else with a laptop. It’s brilliant. The best thing about all of this is that it only costs the price of an orange juice. It’s really nice of cafés to let us sit there all day, they provide a valuable service to me and my colleagues.
A nomadic lifestyle means you can work from anywhere in the world, it could be a beach hut in Thailand or a hammock in Costa Rica — the world is your office. If you are on a limited budget like I am, you have to stick to somewhere local. I would actually prefer to work from home but my dad is on at me every day to get a job, that’s why I had to get out in the first place. It’s not like I’m not trying, I’ve literally just emailed a local gym to see if they have any jobs going. I’ve also made a website taking my professionability up a notch or two. I actually feel like I might be a modern day Steve Jobs.
Me and my café colleague had a thought shower (this is a technical word for brainstorming) about new business ventures. In fairness it was mostly me coming up with the ideas, when I got my little white board out from my bag she said she had to leave. It didn’t matter because that one person meeting helped me decide that I will set up a fashion brand. I’m so pumped. I’ll write next week and let you know how it‘s going. You never know, I might be working from a hammock in Costa Rica by then. Hopefully I’ll also have heard back from the gym.
Bye for now.
